EARTO Innovation Award for Tyndall National Institute

On the 23rd of October 2024, the MicroTIPs team of Tyndall National Institute was awarded the 3rd prize of the EARTO Innovation Awards in the Impact Expected category.

The European Association of Research and Technology Organisations (EARTO), founded in 1999, promotes Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) and represents their interests in Europe. Their network consists of over 350 RTOs in more than 31 countries. Each year, the EARTO grants innovation awards to members who have delivered or are expected to create a significant impact in their field using innovative solutions and technologies.

This year, Tyndall’s Micro Transdermal Interface Platforms (MicroTIPs) technology achieved such an award. This breakthrough innovation merges microneedles and smart sensors, actuators, electronics, and wireless connectivity, to create a minimally invasive device for next-generation transdermal delivery and diagnostics. It allows for continuous monitoring of the patient’s well-being and autonomous, real-time tailored drug delivery, while providing a two-way link between patient and healthcare provider.

This recognition highlights the incredible potential of the platform to transform digital health and medical technology. It underscores the importance of collaborative research, which FORTIFIEDx is proud to be a part of.

Congratulations to the entire team and all the award winners!
